Product Basics
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz — its color comes from trace iron (Fe³⁺) activated by natural radiation during formation. Our pieces come from established wholesale partners in Ametista do Sul, Brazil and Artigas, Uruguay. We offer clusters, towers, and geodes.
Three things to check: First, look for color zoning — natural amethyst has uneven color distribution inside the stone; perfect uniform purple is usually synthetic or dyed glass. Second, feel the temperature — genuine crystal feels noticeably cool and warms slowly in your hand. Third, check weight — real quartz is dense; glass imitations feel lighter. GIA or IGI certificates are helpful for significant pieces, though not all quality natural amethyst comes with lab certification.
Amethyst has been used for centuries as a calming stone — its Greek name literally means "not intoxicated." People most often place it near their beds for sleep, in a workspace for focus, or in living areas for a sense of calm presence. These are traditional and energetic associations. There's no clinical evidence that crystals treat medical conditions, but the intentional ritual of choosing and placing something meaningful is a real practice with real effects for a lot of people.
Amethyst's Mohs hardness of 7 means it's genuinely durable — harder than most metals, scratch-resistant for daily wear. The color purple has been studied in environmental psychology and is associated with reduced perceived stress, though this applies to color generally, not specifically to crystals. Many people report that having a dedicated, intentional object in their space supports mindfulness habits. We describe these as traditional and psychological associations — not medical claims.
Depends on what you're working with. A large geode works well as a room anchor — living rooms, offices, entryways — and holds up as a long-term display piece or collectible. A single crystal (cluster, tower, tumbled stone) is better for personal use: a desk, a nightstand, a pocket. If you're buying as a gift and aren't sure which, a mid-size cluster or tower is the most versatile starting point.
A confirmation email goes out when you place your order, and a second one when it ships with your tracking link. If neither arrived, check your spam or junk folder first — they sometimes land there. If they're not there either, email us at service@buyamethystcrystal.com with your order number and we'll sort it out.
We source directly from established wholesale partners in Ametista do Sul, Brazil and Artigas, Uruguay, and buy in consistent volume. That structure lets us price honestly without the boutique overhead. The stone is the same — you're paying for the crystal, not the shelf space.
The most important thing: keep it out of direct sunlight. UV exposure permanently alters the iron ions that give amethyst its color — once faded, it can't be restored. For cleaning, a soft brush with lukewarm water works well; avoid chemical cleaners and salt water. Store pieces separately to prevent scratching. Many owners like to set their amethyst out on a full moon overnight — whether or not that's your practice, it won't do any harm.
Brazilian amethyst (primarily from Ametista do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul) tends to have larger crystals, a wider color range from light lavender to deep purple, and is generally more affordable. Uruguayan amethyst typically has smaller, more tightly packed crystals with a significantly deeper, richer color — what's often called royal or emperor purple. Uruguay commands a 30–80% price premium for that depth of color. For large dramatic display pieces, Brazil. For the deepest color in a smaller form, Uruguay.

Tracking systems sometimes take 24–48 hours to update after a scan. If there's no movement after 3 days, email us at service@buyamethystcrystal.com with your order number and we'll follow up with the carrier.
Delays can happen due to customs, weather, or high shipping volume — especially around major holidays. If your package is significantly delayed beyond the estimated window, email us and we'll contact the carrier or work out a solution.
Order & Payment
We accept major payment methods including:
Credit/Debit Cards
PayPal
Secure checkout
You can cancel within 12 hours of placing your order, as long as it hasn't been processed for shipping. Email service@buyamethystcrystal.com with your order number and "Cancel Order" in the subject line. After 12 hours, we can't guarantee the order hasn't already been prepared. Once shipped, cancellation isn't possible — but you can return it under our 30-day return policy after delivery.
Common reasons: incorrect billing details, insufficient funds, or a bank security block on international transactions. Try again with corrected details, or contact your bank to authorize the payment. If the issue persists, try a different payment method.
Enter your code in the discount field at checkout before completing payment. Make sure the code is still valid and your order meets any minimum purchase requirement listed with the offer. Codes can't be applied after an order is placed.
Returns, Refunds & Issues
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery for items in unused, undamaged condition. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the buyer's expense — we recommend a tracked service. If your item arrived damaged or wasn't what was described, we cover return shipping. See our full Returns & Refund Policy at <Return & Refund> for details.
It depends on the condition. If you've opened the packaging but haven't used, worn, or handled the piece beyond initial inspection, it's still eligible for return within 30 days. Items showing clear signs of use or wear aren't eligible. When in doubt, email us — we'd rather work it out than leave you stuck with something.
Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a clear photo of the damage. We'll arrange a replacement or full refund — your choice. For damaged items, you don't need to send anything back.
Email service@buyamethystcrystal.com within 7 days with your order number and a photo of what you received. We'll send the correct item and arrange return shipping for the wrong one.
We process refunds within 2 business days of confirming the return or approving a no-return refund (for damaged items). From there: credit card refunds typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement; PayPal usually processes in 3–5 business days. We'll email you when the refund is issued. If it hasn't appeared after 10 business days, check with your bank before contacting us — the timeline is set by your card issuer, not by us.
